The Pemba Logistics Base (BLP) in Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique, should be ready to receive ships by January next year,
The operational director at Portos de Cabo Delgado, José Daúde, was quoted by Rádio Moçambique, as saying that that the construction of a 375-metre pontoon, a warehouse and the fencing of a 13-hectare plot of land were part of the first phase of the US$150-million project
Portos de Cabo Delgado (PCD) – made up of state-owned ENH and port and rail company CFM – holds the rights to manage the port and logistics terminal in Pemba.
The oil and gas logistics project was launched in October 2014 and scheduled for completion in the second half of 2016 but construction was interrupted as questions arose over logistics infrastructure development rights.
However, president of Mozambican national oil and gas company ENH Omar Mithá clarified at the Local Content Conference in the Oil and Gas sector in Mozambique last month that BLP would retain the special rights it had in the Rovuma basin.
