The 2016 completion of PPC’s cement plant – currently under construction in Harare, Zimbabwe – remains on track, despite economic constraints and ongoing protests in the country, said PPC CEO, Darryll Castle, pointing out that the plant was already 70% complete.
TheUS$80 million cement plant will reportedly have the capacity to produce up to 700 000 tonnes annually.
Castle was quoted by online business publication BDLive as saying that the ramp-up plan at the cement plant was “going smoothly”.
The plant in Harare is one of four factories the local cement producer is developing in Africa as growth continues to slump in South Africa.
