Transnet has announced a new leadership team which, in the words of group chief executive Siyabonga Gama, is designed to “reshape the core of our business along with our aspirations and strategic thrusts of being agile, admired, digital and united”.
The Transnet group executive committee includes:
· Siyabonga Gama – group chief executive (executive director)
· Garry Pita – group chief financial Officer (executive director)
· Mlamuli Buthelezi – chief operating officer
· Disebo Moephuli – chief corporate and regulatory officer
· Nonkululeko Sishi – chief human resources officer
· Krishna Reddy – chief capital officer
· Thamsanqa Jiyane – chief advanced manufacturing officer
· Makano Mosidi – chief information officer (effective from 1 June 2016)
A Transnet spokesperson pointed out that the position of chief business development officer was still vacant and that Transnet had started the recruitment process.
She added that Ravi Nair, who has been acting chief executive at Transnet Freight Rail, had been confirmed to the position as chief executive.
“In terms of the new model, Nair, Karl Socikwa of Port Terminals, Sharla Chetty of Pipelines, Richard Vallihu of the Ports Authority, and Thabo Lebelo of Property will now report to the chief operating officer, Mlamuli Buthelezi.”
