Mitsui OSK Line has committed to a bold new plan that brings forward its cargo emissions targets.
It has announced the launch of its "MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.1" as a guide to achieve net zero GHG emissions by 2050.
“The new vision is an upgrade of Vision 2.0 announced in June 2020,” said president and CEO Takeshi Hashimoto.
“The company analyses scenarios, adopting the framework of a task force on climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD),” he said. “It addresses environmental issues by setting higher targets in response to accelerating advances in global trends and technological innovation.”
The line’s medium- and long-terms goals include deploying net zero emissions ocean-going vessels in the 2020s, reducing GHG emission intensity by approximately 45% by 2035, and achieving net zero GHG emissions by 2050.
