Heavy duty equipment manufacturer, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), has unveiled what it claims is the first artificial intelligence (AI) unmanned straddle carrier in the world.
Last year ZPMC set up a joint research and development (R&D) programme with Westwell lab in a bid to free up terminal staff for other tasks and improve the horizontal transportation efficiency of terminals by more than 50%, according to a statement from the company.
It added that the accuracy rate of an autonomous operation of the new type of straddle carrier was close to 100%.
