Since the reopening of the desert railway line connecting Namibia’s southern Port of Lüderitz (PoL) to the Northern Cape, an increase in manganese outf lows and growing interest from agricultural concerns in South Africa is pushing volume higher on the Trans Oranje Corridor TAC).Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) has stated that output through the port has gone up to 10 000 per day.Projected figures for the port’s per-annum output indicate a jump from 600 000 to 800 000 tonnes since the TAC was reactivated after lying dormant for 20 years.“It’s a trend we anticipate will continue,” said PoL marketing specialist Cecile Kamupingene.
