Global logistics group Kuehne + Nagel and investment company Temasek have announced they will establish a joint venture for investments in global logistics technology start-ups.
Kuehne + Nagel chairman Joerg Wolle noted that the two companies were looking to invest in early stage companies who were developing cutting-edge technology for logistics and supply chains that had “the potential to transform traditional business models in logistics, improve efficiency and provide an enhanced value proposition for consumers”.
“This joint venture will be able to accelerate the transformation of the logistics industry,” he said.
Wolle highlighted big data and predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, blockchain and robotics as key areas on which the joint venture would focus.
He added that cooperation between the two companies would combine Temasek’s long-term oriented investment strategy and expertise with Kuehne + Nagel’s global logistics network.
