Maersk is currently assessing the impact on its operations of this week’s KZN floods, according to eNCA.
The company says the flooding has caused widespread damage to infrastructure, including the port’s container terminal.
It has led the global shipping company to suspend terminal operations for now.
Offices have also been closed and employees are currently working from home.
Furthermore, the company has been forced to close depots and warehouses in the Durban area amid reports of damage to containers and cargo.
It has also suspended the rail connection to the terminal and all trucks have been grounded.
