A short statement from the Kenyan transport cabinet secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen yesterday said a formal request to the National Police Service (NPS) had been made to investigate possible sabotage and cover-ups due to the frequent power blackouts at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The most recent disruptive blackout at two key facilities at the airport happened over the weekend, and was reported by Freight News yesterday.
In the statement, Murkomen indicated that the move had been necessitated by the "frequency of the power disruption, and taking into account the fact that JKIA is a facility of strategic national importance".
"We are making a formal request to the National Police Service to investigate possible acts of sabotage and cover-up."
