Intelligent predictive logistics
is all about reducing costs,
fine-tuning efficiency and
creating transparency and
predictability.
But it relies
on a lot more
than data, in
the view of
TSI Central
Station CEO
Clifford
Blackburn
who
addressed
a recent
JCCI/FTW
workshop on the impact of
technology on the freight
industry.
“We’re all sitting on a huge
amount of data – but in
terms of data analytics we
need someone who is able to
connect the dots.”
Finding the best solution
is not just about technology
– there’s always the human
element, says Blackburn.
“The older generation
has the experience and
the know-how – so
let the experienced
generation speak to
the generation that
is thinking a little
differently from us
and by combining
those strengths
we will create intelligent
predictive logistics.
“We live in a space where
we don’t want to change.
People only change when the
pain of not
changing is
greater than
the pain of
change. And
this becomes
a divide
between
the younger
and older
generation.
But if you
bring the two together
you have experience and
new technology, which is a
winning
formula.”
