The Nigerian Ports Authority has announced that an investigative team will immediately be set up to look into the fires in the Tin Can Island Port Complex in Apapa, Nigeria, earlier this month.
NPA managing director, Hadiza Bala Usman, noted that the team would be responsible for looking into the cause of the incidents as well as coming up with recommendations to prevent such incidents from happening again.
“Further steps will be taken to look into ways of safeguarding and taking drastic measures towards preventing a recurrence of these unfortunate incidents across all port locations in the country,” she said.
According to the NPA, the fire engulfed part of multinational logistic group Grimaldi’s PTML Terminal as well as “national” areas in the port.
