Gauteng Province is to implement a job creation and skilling project this month with the aim of fixing the thousands of potholes that are making its roads challenging and dangerous.
Using unemployed youth, a so-called ‘green army’ will have the pothole project as one of its upliftment objectives. Unemployed youth can apply for the positions until July 15, either online or manually, using 22 offices of the Gauteng Province.
The project was announced on Youth Day in June by Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi. It also has other projects, which, combined, will absorb an initial 8 000 youths. The Premier’s office, however, warned of possible scams relating to this opportunity.
It is important to note that applications are free and a fee cannot be charged for an application to be lodged.
