SOME OF cricket's fastest deliverers - India's Javagal Srinath, Australia's Glenn McGrath and former Australian player, Jeff Thomson, holder of the
bowling speed record at 99.7 mph - last week launched the FedEx Speedster, the radar device which will be used to measure bowling speeds during the remaining matches of the 1999 Cricket World Cup.
Sponsored by FedEx, and accurate to within 2 km/h, the FedEx Speedster began
operation at the Super Six match between India and Australia.
Srinath, who has taken over 200 one day international wickets during his distinguished career, and McGrath, who has claimed the best analysis of the World Cup so far, taking 5 for 14 against the West Indies, will be spearheaded the attack for their respective teams at The Oval.
FedEx is a company well-known for the fast delivery of more than 3 million items to 211 countries and regions each working day. Sponsorship of the Speedster is a perfect fit for us, said UK & Ireland marketing manager Simon Fry. The FedEx Speedster uses leading edge technology to produce accurate measurements quickly and reliably.
As the world's largest express transportation company, speed of delivery, reliability and the use of industry's best customer technologies are our trademarks, he said.
