Against a background of gloom
and doom in the airfreight
industry, Emirates is ramping up
its service on the Johannesburg
and Durban routes.
The airline will add Durban to
its network from October 1 this
year. The service was planned
for launch in December last
year but was postponed after a
review of aircraft deployment
during a period of fuel price
volatility.
The temporary suspension
of the third daily Johannesburg
service from February 1 has
been lifted. EK766 will operate
on a scaled-back basis – three
times a week – from February 1
to March 29.
The third daily flight will
return to its full seven days a
week operation from March 30.
From October 1, the airline
will offer 35 weekly flights out
of South Africa, non-stop
to Dubai.
