Emirates SkyCargo’s newly acquired Boeing 777F, A6-EFU, will maintain its fleet at 11 aircraft, following the return of A6-EFG to its lessor. The airline is also planning to convert ten of its passenger aircraft into freighters, which will increase its cargo fleet to 21 by 2026.
It is boosting its fleet capacity due to a significant increase in cargo loads across its products. It announced that in 2021-22, the annual tonnage carried exceeded 2.1 million, representing an increase of 15%.
In addition to the new aircraft, Emirates SkyCargo is expanding its routes in response to the increase in demand across global markets, reports Logistics Update Africa.
From this week, an additional four freight flights every week will join the China service. Shanghai will be served with six flights, Guangzhou with four, and Beijing with two. The increased freight flights will add more than 400 tonnes of cargo to and from China.
Plans to increase the frequencies of direct flights to Hanoi and Sydney are also being finalised.
