On 12 August 2022, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) called for comment on draft amendments and insertions to the Rules to the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 relating to the eFiling of applications for drawbacks and refund, on which comment is due by 26 August 2022.
The amendments relate to the amendment of form DA 63 “Application for refund – Export for trade purposes of imported duty paid goods (Refund item 522.03)”, form “DA 64 - Application for drawback/refund”, and form “DA 66 – General Application for drawback/refund”, and the amendment to Part 2 of Schedule No.5 to the Act, 1964 “Specific Drawbacks and Refunds of Customs Duties, Fuel Levy and Environmental Levy” to substitute Note 2, Note 5(a), and Drawback Item 522.00.
