The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) has put its money where its mouth is to promote South Africa’s export potential and announced plans to host the third Global Exporters’ Passport Programme (GEPP) training session.
In partnership with the City of Tshwane, more than 50 small, medium and micro enterprises will be given the opportunity to study components within the international export market in order to create a diverse group of export-ready businesses.
“It is important that we develop a pool of export-ready companies in order to increase the country’s export list, grow the economy and contribute to employment creation,” said Fikile Majola, deputy minister of the dti.
“But to achieve these goals we need to first equip business people with the necessary information, skills and knowledge on the functioning of the international export market,” he added.
Since 2013, the Global Exporters’ Passport Programme has benefited nearly 3 000 companies by examining the various aspects of the export market such as the implementation of the marketing plan, market access issues, product branding, market research, export finance, export marketing, according to Majola.
The training will be held at the Eskia Mphahlele Library Hall in Pretoria on 21-22 October.
