The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will host a the Small, Medium and Micro Business Support Forum at the Sol Plaatjie Local Municipality tomorrow, October 4.
The forum, hosted in conjunction with the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT), will focus on access to resources, infrastructure, skills development, and procurement problems which have led to a decline in prosperity in the region.
“It is through this Forum that we seek to create a platform wherein government sectors and development finance institutions exhibit and communicate their services to business owners that will be attending the event. We will also assist and provide tailor-made information as well as resolving challenges raised by individual businesses,” said Nomalungelo Gina, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry.
The forum is to provide support and assistance to small business owners, specifically in the Sol Plaatjie Local Municipality, as a means to sustain efficient economic growth and job creation.
And according to Gina, the forum will discuss methods to unlock new economic development opportunities.
“The Forum will discuss key services such as business registration, business plan development, business mentoring and coaching, obtaining market access and financial and non-financial support from the dti agencies,” Gina concluded.
