De Beers Group, Angola’s National Mineral Resource Agency, the country's state-owned diamond company, Endiama, and diamond trading company, Sodiam, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance Angola’s diamond sector.
The MoU will focus on increasing diamond production, supporting the growth of alluvial diamond mining, and advancing social development in Angola.
The signing took place at the Mining Indaba in Cape Town.
Alastair Bickerstaff, the chief executive officer of De Beers Group, said the company was delighted to further expand its activities in the country.
Angola is the 10th largest exporter of diamonds in the world.
It mainly exports to the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, India, the United States, and Israel, according to its latest trade statistics.
