On 17 November 2023, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) advised that a client is no longer required to upload the certificate of accreditation and notify the Client Relationship Manager of the prioritisation of a stopped consignment. The Customs Officer must validate the client’s accredited status on the SARS intranet for case to be prioritised.
The amendment, in terms of the SARS “Valuation-of-Exports-External-Policy”, is designed to:
- Assist clients in determining the value of goods exported from South Africa to any country of destination as stipulated in Section 72 of the Customs and Excise Act, 1964.
- The policy applies to clients responsible for completing the export value of goods on the Customs Clearance Declaration (CCD).
