Transporters operating into Botswana have been advised that movement will be restricted between the hours of 8pm and 4am every day until the end of March.
Supply chain personnel not in possession of a “movement permit” will also be subjected to the week-long restriction.
According to a statement, President Mokgweetsi Masisi has, on evidence submitted to him by the director of health services that the risks posed by Covid-19 have increased in Botswana, decided to restrict movement from March 23 to 31.
“The restriction on movement of persons shall continue to apply from 20:00 to 04:00 hours daily,” the statement says.
It adds: “For the avoidance of doubt, a person shall be required to carry a movement permit (essential services) issued under regulation 7 (1) to travel during the hours where movement is restricted.”
It also makes mention of the different types of gatherings that will be subjected to the restrictions.
