In the first three months of this year, the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) had recovered R685 million in relation to corruption cases involving R5 million or more, said the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Michael Masutha.
Briefing the media ahead of his department’s Budget Vote debate yesterday afternoon (Thursday), Masutha said government’s fight against crime remained a key priority.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) continued to play a critical role in government’s commitment to fighting corruption, he added.
