On 06 April 2021, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) Director: Customs Border Operations, Ports of Entry & Customs Compliance, released its letter to traders and agents dated 01 April 2021, titled “13th Deferment Payment for the Period ending March 2021”.
The letter reads:
Today we start a new financial year which will bring its own challenges and opportunities but allow me to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your cooperation for the year that just ended. I would like to thank all our Deferment Account holders who acted in accordance with our request to make the necessary payments by end of business on 31 March 2021. Your positive response to our request has contributed to the overall SARS revenue outcome announced by the SARS Commissioner today.
My gratitude is particularly heartfelt considering the constrained financial and economic environment that many businesses still operate in. Despite these challenging times, you have once again partnered with us in making a contribution to our country and fulfilling the SARS higher purpose.
I look forward to our continued collaboration in the year ahead.
The letter is available on request.
