Business Unity South Africa (Busa) has urged transporters using the Port of Durban to complete a survey aimed at determining the level of efficiency of the port based on their own personal experiences.
Busa says there have been some concerns recently around the functioning of the booking systems and that for the smooth functioning of the system, a seamless three-way linkage must be created between waterside, terminals, and the private sector making use of the system for evacuation of import containers and dropping off of export containers.
Commenting on the survey, Mike Fitzmaurice, chief executive of the Federation of East and Southern African Road Transport Associations, said that it was important and that it was a step in the right direction to effect change that supported transporters.
“The opinions and experiences of transporters are important; we want to hear what they have to say, and this is what the survey highlights,” he said.
