Trade restrictions on the import of live poultry, birds, meat and other products derived from poultry and birds from Australia into South Africa have been lifted.
Trade may now resume with immediate effect, according to a directive issued on April 14 by Director of Animal Health, Dr Mpho Maja.
Only poultry meat with a production date of February 26 or later will be allowed.
Veterinary import permits and health certificates must be obtained prior to the exportation of the product.
