Namibia has a “narrow window” for meeting its objective of establishing itself as a regional logistics hub, says the country’s minister of works and transport, John Mutor wa.“We must take note of the narrow window of opportunity that Namibia has to position itself as a regional powerhouse in transport and logistics,” Mutorwa said at the launch of the 2020 Namibia State of Logistics Report. “I acknowledge that the logistics sector was faced with a lot of challenges during this (Covid-19) pandemic.“However, I do believe that with some f lexibility, forward looking and innovation, the Namibian logistics industry has the opportunity to develop, diversify and thrive. “We have to understand that the logistics sector will be key to the economy’s recovery from this pandemic. “With sufficient drive, cooperation, and creativity across the industry in Namibia, our ports can become an efficient, cost effective, safe, and preferred gateway into southern Africa,” he said.
