The airfreight division of ICM
Clearing and Forwarding is
expected to contribute at least
30% of total revenues in 2011,
says Kriba Naiken, managing
director of ICM Clearing and
Forwarding.
The division was launched
in January 2010.
According to Naiken,
growth of 300% was achieved
in 2010, a year that many
described as challenging
following the global economic
downturn of 2009.
“Airfreight for the most part
remained stable even through
the recession and managed to
maintain its margins,” says
Naiken. “Even though 2010
was a time most industries
were recovering from the
recession, we managed to grow
this new division significantly.
Something we aim to continue
in 2011.”
Mark Anthony, ICM
Airfreight division manager,
says the division is as capable
of moving high value cargo as
a box carrying nothing out of
the ordinary.
“Having the right people in
place has played a key role in
the success of the division,”
he says. “We are also starting
to establish ourselves as
specialists when it comes to
precious metals, high-end
high technology products and
strategic manufactured goods.
We will focus specifically on
growing these segments in
2011 even further.”
According to Cecil
Leigh, sales and marketing
director for ICM, a dedicated
airfreight sales executive
will be appointed to drive
the growth process and will
be tasked with increasing the
customer base.
